(34696) Risoldi is a minor planet discovered on July 21, 2001 by A. Boattini and M. Tombelli at San Marcello Pistoiese (Italy).

Origin of Name

The planet is named after Vairo Risoldi (b. 1951), an amateur astronomer at the S. Lucia Stroncone Observatory. Thanks to his skills in electronics and computer science, he made the telescope control interface and various software packages for the astrometric reduction of CCD frames, extensively used by other Italian teams as well.
